Homeschool of the Arts is a family-run co-op built around creativity. Once a week our kids, from kindergarten through high school, spend a full day learning art, music, herbalism, fitness, cooking and more, together with other homeschool families.
Homeschool of the Arts was founded in 2023 by a small group of homeschooling moms who wanted a place where their children could learn, build friendships and grow up in community. After COVID, more and more local families chose to homeschool, but there were few resources and little support for them. So we built it.
The co-op was founded by Lindsey Churchill and Liz Rockwell, together with our founding board, and it is still run entirely by a volunteer board of homeschooling parents. No one is paid. We do it because we believe in this community.
What began with a handful of families has grown to more than 40, from kindergarten through high school, across Sussex County, NJ and Orange County, NY.
Parents and local instructors lead hands-on classes for every age, K through 12, and every family plays a part. Kids rotate through the day, try new things and share what they make.

We head out together to museums, farms, performances, nature centers and more, so learning keeps going beyond co-op day.
Artists, performers, scientists and local experts visit during co-op day to bring hands-on experiences right to our kids.
We're not a drop-off program. Our co-op works because every family shows up and pitches in.
No. A parent or guardian stays on site for the whole co-op day and takes part with us.
Yes. Every family has a role, like leading or assisting a class, helping with setup and cleanup, or supporting events and field trips.
Regular attendance and a real commitment to the co-op. The kids, the classes and the other families all count on each other.
